Fight
I wasn’t kidding when I wrote Stick To Your Guns last week. Your adversaries really will try to take you out.
I wasn’t planning on writing this post. I planned to write about some recent wins and my election integrity progress.
Then an assassination attempt happened yesterday.
That changed my plans. It changed many people’s plans.
I think about those who went to a rally to have a good time and left traumatized.
I think about the victim Corey Comperatore, who died at the rally.
I think about his family.
I think about those who were wounded and their families.
I think about Trump’s family.
I think about those who were watching the event at home.
I think about our elector.
I think about both our delegates and alternate traveling to Wisconsin for the RNC.
All are looking over their shoulders now.
I think about how quickly our lives can change in an instant, and how our best-laid plans can go awry to paraphrase the saying.
Lots of plans changed and the future remains uncertain.
(Not that anything ever is a certainty aside from taxes and our deaths.)
We all live and act as if we will be around forever, even though we know we won’t be.
Our time on this planet is finite. We can die at any moment, no matter how powerful, how wealthy, how loved, how famous, or how well-connected we are.
Even fame, which many of us want to be immortal beyond physical death, will not last.
Four celebrities who died in the past few days are no longer leading headlines.
That’s not a knock against them.
From what I know, they were good people.
Yes, they were flawed. So what? They were human. We all are. Nobody is perfect.
But they, like us, will be forgotten over time.
I’ve even seen some Shinzo Abe memes circulating about the event.
I had forgotten about him and his assassination until I saw these.
We will remember where we were and what we were doing when we saw or heard the news, but, eventually, we will return to our daily lives.
Life goes on.
Work must be done. Things must be repaired. Problems still need to be addressed.
Without them – the trials, tribulations, challenges, tragedies, and downfalls – our successes and overcoming these obstacles would give us no satisfaction, value, joy, accomplishment, or purpose.
Knowing this doesn’t change the realities of the situations we’re all dealing with.
But knowing that we are all working towards our own goals and facing difficulties in achieving them makes the game of life a little more bearable and relatable.
Spend time with your loved ones. Give them a call.
Focus on what matters to you while you still have the time in this life.
Leave this world a better place than you found it when you came into it.
That’s really all we can do with our time while we are here.
Keep on fighting the good fight.
